If in Southern Vietnam, ancient songs and Southern folk songs are considered an indispensable spiritual dish, then the people of Bac Ninh in particular and the Northern region in general are daily preserving a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage – Quan ho Bac Ninh.
Although it is still maintained and promoted, Quan ho Bac Ninh remains quite unfamiliar to many members. Because of its novelty, this unique spiritual dish is sometimes easily turned away. However, SVTECHers did not hesitate to “taste” this spiritual dish for themselves.
SVTECH welcomed a Quan ho Bac Ninh folk music troupe to perform right at the Ho Chi Minh City Office.
Here, in addition to listening directly, SVTECHers were also shared by the “lien anh” and “lien chi” (male and female singers) about the origins, the context of each song’s creation, and the special things surrounding Quan ho Bac Ninh.
The Quan ho performance concluded with many special emotions in the heart of each SVTECHer. Some were surprised, others were regretful, never expecting that “listening to it live would be so satisfying.”
