Many successful experiences from leading international enterprises were shared at the seminar “Achieving Cloud Success with the Infrastructure Cloud.”

Partnering with SVTECH and IBM, the HashiCorp expert team delivered highly practical solutions to a central question: “What is the solid foundation for a successful digital transformation journey?”
In particular, valuable lessons and best practices from leading organizations in finance–banking, telecommunications, and global corporations such as SoftBank, Vodafone, AIRBUS, Shopify, and AstraZeneca were thoroughly analyzed and shared.

Alarming Reality: 94% of Enterprises Use Cloud, but Only 20% Achieve Full ROI

Mr. Brett Nulf (HashiCorp – IBM) shared “concerning” findings from the State of the Cloud Survey: 91% of companies waste cloud resources, resulting in budget overruns of up to 35%; developers spend an average of 52 minutes per day writing code instead of building products; and 9 out of 10 data breaches originate from compromised credentials.

The question is no longer whether organizations should adopt the cloud, but how to implement it correctly,” Mr. Brett emphasized as he outlined four key pillars: cloud cost management, enhanced security, process standardization, and the design and operation of a multi-cloud model.

Infrastructure as Code: The Key to Cost Optimization and Accelerated Deployment

In addition, IBM’s “Cost of a Data Breach Report 2024” highlights an alarming state of cybersecurity: 46% of data breaches involve customers’ personal information, it takes up to 292 days to detect a breach, and the average cost per incident reaches USD 4.88 million.

In response to this reality, Mr. Rio Sibuea (HashiCorp – IBM) proposed Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as a solution to mitigate risks, manage costs, and shorten time-to-market.

Three Core Benefits of Terraform:

  • Accelerated deployment through reusability and centralized control
  • Risk reduction by embedding security policies directly into the provisioning process
  • Cost optimization by eliminating over-provisioning and cloud resource waste

Addressing Security Blind Spots: Next-Generation Identity Management

In a context where identity-based attacks account for 60% of all cyberattacks and cause an average loss of USD 4.81 million per incident, Mr. Ajay Kumar (IBM) introduced two breakthrough solutions that have delivered impressive real-world results:

  • Vault – Centralized Secrets Management:
Enables NordLB to process 300 million requests per day, helps Athena Health reduce secret rotation time by 99%, and allows VinID to save 90% in development costs.
  • Verify – Intelligent Identity Management:
Allows IBM to manage 10,000 new identities per day, secures USD 5.5 trillion in transactions daily for DCLS, and helps VLI reduce access provisioning time from five days to just a few seconds.

These technologies apply the principle of least privilege and are particularly effective in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments, providing a comprehensive solution to modern identity security challenges.

Real-World Case Studies: From Vietnamese Banks to Indonesian Telecom Giants

To demonstrate the effectiveness of modern cloud solutions, HashiCorp shared a series of compelling case studies from leading enterprises across various industries.

Banking: A publicly listed consumer bank in Hanoi fully automated its infrastructure provisioning process, significantly reducing time-to-market while ensuring regulatory compliance. Vault was implemented for Kubernetes secrets management, featuring disaster recovery capabilities and advanced tokenization.

Telecommunications: Indonesia’s largest telecom operator modernized its entire infrastructure, reducing costs and risks through a microservices architecture powered by Service Mesh and PKI, simplifying systems and accelerating application onboarding.

Notably, HashiCorp’s diverse customer portfolio—spanning finance (KeyBank, SoftBank, Blackstone), media & entertainment (Sky, Comcast, Universal), technology (Grab, Shopify, Booking.com), manufacturing (BMW, AIRBUS), logistics (Lufthansa), and pharmaceuticals (AstraZeneca, GSK)—demonstrates the broad applicability of cloud-native solutions across all industries.

These case studies not only highlight the power of modern technology but also reaffirm the inevitable trend toward comprehensive digital transformation in the era of cloud computing.

Conclusion

The seminar “Achieving Cloud Success with the Infrastructure Cloud” delivered insightful analysis and practical perspectives from leading HashiCorp–IBM experts, while providing Vietnamese enterprises with an opportunity to directly engage with the latest technology trends. More importantly, it helped establish a solid cloud strategy foundation for a successful digital transformation journey.
